Thanks to our dedicated volunteers and generous community, the Holly Springs Food Cupboard remains open.
We generally grow some Borage (also called star flower) in the Holly Springs Food Cupboard gardens. The plant (pictured) is easy to grow. This herb in ancient times was used to impart courage to warriors. We use it to attract pollinators and predators. That’s good for the other plants in the garden like squash, tomatoes, and peppers. We also just like to look at it.
Did you know that the leaves can be used to make a cucumber-tasting tea? The flowers are edible and can garnish salads.
