Thank You for a Successful Food Drive
Saturday, Sept. 12, the community turned out in force for the Holly Springs Lions Club food drive. The drive was a success, generating 2,118 pounds in donations! We are so grateful for our generous community. Thanks to all who came out and donated supplies, and to everyone who helped spread the word.
“Masked Gardeners” – Heroes of the Food Cupboard Garden
Our 2020 Food Cupboard garden continues to thrive even under these extraordinary times. Our yearly harvest thus far is now more than 1,100 pounds of fruits and vegetables, thanks to dedicated garden volunteers!
Although big groups are no longer scheduled for work days, individuals and families are volunteering time to keep the fresh vegetables productive and available weekly to clients. Workers are encouraged to wear masks and socially distance while working.
The fall garden crops are now in and include carrots, collards, cabbage, mustard greens, turnips, beets, radishes, spinach, broccoli and more. Meanwhile, we continue to reap a harvest of okra, green beans and peppers for clients.
Thanks again to all the “masked gardeners” who are making this year a big success.
