Save the Date: Annual Plant Sale

Holly Springs Food Cupboard is Growing, By Growing!
Holly Springs Food Cupboard has helped provide meals for the food insecure in our community since its inception in 2010. From its first distribution from the Annex of Holly Springs United Methodist Church, the food cupboard has grown to serve 1,396 families annually in our community. While many, many people donate canned and boxed food that has a long shelf life, the need for a balanced diet requires perishables and fresh produce. One way the HSFC meets the demand for fresh produce is by growing it themselves.
The Holly Springs Food Cupboard garden is tended by volunteers who work year round to plant seeds, transfer sprouts, maintain a healthy growing cycle, and ultimately gather a bountiful harvest. Each spring, the HSFC garden hosts a plant sale, selling hardened seedlings ready to be planted in area gardens. In addition to herbs and vegetable seedlings, many area gardeners donate perennials.
The funds from this annual sale help supply the Food Cupboard garden with seeds, soil, and other equipment needed for an abundant harvest of fresh produce, as well as provide perishables and other necessities for those in need in our community.
This year’s Plant Sale will be Saturday, April 12, 9 a.m.-noon at the Food Cupboard, 621 W. Holly Springs Road.
